Measurements are possible on both light and dark objects due to the special design of the scale. By covering the lower part of the scale in the longitudinal direction, it becomes opaque and is therefore also visible on dark objects. The graduation lines extended over the cover are ideally used for measuring probes, corresponding to the measuring jaws of the micrometer or the slide gauge.
